About Knowledge Without Borders

Karen Collias is the founder of Knowledge Without Borders, an organization dedicated to educating about the knowledge and skills needed for success in the 21st century and bringing together stakeholders from secondary and higher education, corporations, and government to work collaboratively in preparing young people for life and work in the global economy.

Karen has an extensive background in educational research, policymaking and global education. She specializes in conceptualizing projects, establishing networks of interested stakeholders, and creating a "hybrid culture" that enables stakeholders from different institutional backgrounds to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and reach common goals.

Karen earned her Ph.D. at Columbia University, taught at Princeton University, and has worked on education reform projects and global education programs funded by the Ford Foundation, Carnegie Corporation, The Pew Charitable Trusts, and others. She is currently working on projects that bring together decision makers in education, industry, and government to improve student achievement in science for workforce success in applied technology.
