Who we are

Knowledge Without Borders engages people throughout the world to embrace their passions and create new ideas and opportunities in life and work. We want to share knowledge – authentic knowledge without borders – to spark inclusive conversations among all sorts of people from throughout the world. Creative minds, be they formal, informal or virtual educators, business and government representatives, parents and students, are the catalyst of innovative ideas and actions that will transform education, life and work in the 21st century.

Karen Collias, the Founder and Chief Inspiration Officer of Knowledge Without Borders, connects people and organizations to leverage resources so they can achieve common goals through effective communication and shared ownership.

Karen earned her Ph.D. at Columbia University and worked as an analyst at the U.S. Department of State, a  high school teacherresearch analyst and manager in national education reform projects funded by the Ford Foundation, Carnegie Corporation and The Pew Charitable Trusts.  Karen focused on globalization and educational equity as a visiting lecturer at Princeton University. A former deputy director at the National Science Resources Center, she currently works on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) initiatives at the Smithsonian Institution, and with a variety of businesses, organizations, and government agencies.
