What Job Should My Child Take in a Globalizing Economy?

At the World Economic Forum 2008 in Davos, Switzerland, participants attended a luncheon session entitled, "What Job Should My Child Take in a Globalizing Economy?"

Even for the world’s elite (who are parents themselves), this is a question not easily answered. The reality is that any "job" recommended in 2008 may be obsolete by the time a child enters early adulthood.

  • Excellent language skills
  • Ability to negotiate
  • "People" skills
  • Understanding and appreciation of other cultures
